Tips to life from a Stock Trader
I just borrowed this book, Jesse Livermore: World's Greatest Stock Trader - By Richard Smitten, from the library yesterday. Basically Jesse Livermore is known as the world's most famous stock trader, having made millions, lost it, and made it again. He's also the inspired character in the book 'Reminiscences of a Stock Operator' which is one of the compulsory read books if you ever want to do trading in an Investment Bank.
Chuck Feeney: Giving While Living
Just an article(transcript) I found recently. Pretty inspiring actually. Wonder when will the day when I can say the same.
Basically, its about this guy, Chuck Feeney, who founded the DFS(Duty Free Shop) chain all around the world.

Scene from Charles Dickens' “Great Expectations”
Jaggers: I’m instructed to communicate to him that he will come into a handsome property. Further, that it is the desire of the present possessor of that property that he be immediately removed from his present sphere of life and from this place and be brought up as a gentleman. In a word, a fellow of great expectations.
Joe Gargery (Pip’s adoptive father): May we ask who is this liberal benefactor?
Stock Market Turmoil & Singapore's 7th Richest Man
Another interesting article on Peter Lim, The 'Remisier King'. One thing I did find interesting was his life story. The part on him living with 3 brothers, 4 sisters, fishmonger father and housewife mother. Look where that brought him today? Maybe all mothers should be housewives.. Seems to be more productive than 2 income family.
The New Paper 26 August 2007 - Karen Wong
He makes paper loss of $100m in stock market turmoil, but says of his wealth: 'It makes no difference after a point'
My money will go to charity
Die die also won't sell.
Just for entertainment
Apparently this song was popular last year June, when the China stock market crumbled. Its a wonder why the China market is going up and up. Literally, they waited till the cows(or bulls rather) come home.
Summary for a long week of thinking and events
It has been a really eventful week. Really Eventful.
Stocks
On Wednesday 18th July 2007, the Singapore government decided to announce the increase of development charge tax from 50% to 70%. What happened then was the STI index fell a good 67 points in less than 3 hours. Woah. Thats pretty much the biggest 1 day decline since 19th of April 2007. I guess what happened was a case of mass panic actually.
