Aftermath of NTU Bike Rally and Preparation for National Runway Cycling

Its 3 days after the Bike Rally. You know, the one where I only slept 2 hours before it, cycled for 150km whilst avoiding any crashes (which I did crash 3 years ago and fractured my right elbow).

Immediately after that, I concussed. Slept for 15 hours straight at 7pm all the way to 10am the next morning. And before that, I actually ate 4 slices of pizza and many other high carbs, high fat, high protein content stuff. I wonder if I actually ate more than I burnt. Hmmm.

Out of curiousity, I did some surfing around the local bike forums, and also google. Looks like many other people have started posting about their experiences.

Of note, we have :

NTU Bike Rally 2007

Yesterday was the NTU Bike Rally 2007. Basically, its this annual cycling rally which brings you 128km all around Singapore. Its organised by NTU Sports Club, which also organises the national events like Surf and Sweat, National Vertical Marathon, X-Physique.

This year, we started off at East Coast Park. And since registration started at 5.30am, I had to wake up at 4am, wash up, and cycle there (which is another 14km away). The problem is, I don't usually wake up at 4am, I am a heavy sleeper, and I don't want to miss the event.

So, I slept at 10pm. BUT I got up at 1am. So.. Problem.

NTU Bike Rally & National Runway Cycing

After days of procrastination, I decided to register for the National Runway Cycling 45km Endurance Challenge.

2 Problems though.

One, you gotta register in person at one of the five SAFRA branches. And since I live in the north east, SAFRA Tampines was the nearest. However, due to the ulu locations of ALL the SAFRA clubs, it would take me 3 bus changes to get me there. And since I'm registering for the Runway Cycling, I did the obvious. I cycled there.

Statistics for the 2 way trip:
Distance : 28.73km
Time : 58mins 56sec (Auto start time mode)
Average Speed : 29.3km/h
Max Speed : 51.1km/h

Pretty decent, considering I haven't gone to the gym and do any serious exercise for more than 7 weeks. (Ugh. Mental note: Go to the gym)

So thats settled.

How to kill your legs and butt

A little late on this post, but late is better than never.

After finishing a good part of my exams (and life in NTU), some of us decided to do a long night cycling ride. Yes, long meaning, round island long. For those of you who have not done a round island before, generally speaking, it would take you along the longest, minimal traffic lights roads in Singapore. That would generally be between 110-130km if you do the coastal routes.
