Feb '08 income report : S$27.26

Okay, making money online is apparently not one of my strong points.

Lets just jump to the numbers first.

Adsense : US$14.04 (or S$19.656 if using a 1.40 conversion)
Advertlets:     S$7.61

Generally, there hasn't been a change in the adsense numbers, but the advertlets numbers increased. However, if you actually looked at the details, the advertlets numbers actually dropped on a CPM basis. Probably will have to monitor to see how that goes.

Before mediacorp became mediacorp, it was TCS (Television corporation of Singapore). Before TCS, there was SBC (Singapore Broadcasting Corporation *I think*)

Drupal 6 is released! The ultimate alternative for wordpress and joomla

Drupal 6.0 is out!

In all of my websites, I prefer to use drupal 6.0 compared to wordpress for blogs, as well as joomla for cms sites. One of the reasons was that drupal had a very clean interface, a growing base of developers and users. And also, being a new kid on the block for CMS, they had some of the cleaner codes available. (Compare windows with its multi years of backward compatibility and its crazy bulk)

Now.. to get my ass down to updating my installations to drupal 6. Ugh.

The most recent 'news' is about the Edison Chen and his sex exploits with Gillian Chung, Cecilia Cheung, Bobo Chan, and who knows who else. And for this single tabloid 'news', almost the entire ping.sg is flooded with it!

Thus, without wasting anymore screen real estate, heres the list of my top 10 favourite sites.

Jan '08 partial month income report : S$25.50

Back on 23rd Jan, I decided to do a case study on monetising websites as a form of consistent income. Thus, I redid my site theme, played around with ad placements, redefined the focus of the site, and this is what you get!

For this experiment, I would be combining the results of this site, Fergus Tan dot Net as well as another stock trading site I created at around the same time.

Affiliate marketing, the art of getting paid when people buy things.

Imagine this, a person goes to  your website, read your post and saw a link to a book he likes. He clicks on that link and it goes to amazon. However, he is a compulsive shopper. Once at amazon, he shops around, decides to ge the book, as well as an iphone, a digital camera and a washing machine. Costing a total of at least US$1500

And amazon gives  you a cut of anywhere from 0.25% to 4% of that.

Now imagine that repeated 100 times a week. That, is affiliate marketing.

I signed up for PPP! The sponsored review network you should use too!

I signed up for PPP! For those who don't know what that is, it stands for PayPerPost, a sponsored review network available online.(PPP: Get paid to blog)

Though they both cost nothing to sign up, and they even have duplicate opportunities between them, the one of largest difference is the way that advertisers and publishers interact.
